Problem
Faith habits are personal, but the tools around them are fragmented.
People looking for daily guidance
- Bible reading, prayer, journaling, and study notes live in different apps — so consistency drops.
- Generic AI chat is not grounded in Scripture and can feel cold or untrustworthy for spiritual questions.
- Typing a prayer when you are overwhelmed is harder than speaking it.
- Sermon notes, Bible pages, and church bulletins stay on paper unless someone retypes them.
- There is no simple weekly picture of prayers, study, and follow-through.
Product and operations gaps
- Sign-up friction stops first-time users from trying the product.
- Premium features (unlimited coaching, scans, audio, growth reports) need store-validated billing.
- The team needs an operations console for users, content, and subscriptions without waiting on a developer for every change.
- The stack has to ship to App Store and Play Store with the same cloud, auth, and release discipline as other production products.
Solution
MyFaithy is a scan-and-coach companion built across three connected layers.
1. Faith Coach
A chat experience for life's questions — overwhelm, decisions, habits, support — with answers framed by Scripture. Users can type or speak. Category chips keep the conversation focused.
2. Prayer, Scan & Growth
- Prayer companion — personalized prayers with Scripture, status (Active, Waiting, Answered, Continuing), and updates.
- Faith Scan — photograph or upload Bible pages, sermon notes, journals, and bulletins; AI helps unpack what was captured.
- Growth reports — a weekly snapshot of prayers, journal entries, missions, scans, and journey progress.
3. Cloud, Auth & Operations
Apple, Google, email, and guest access on the client. AWS + Firebase on the backend. GitHub for source and release. An Amplify-hosted admin console for the business team.
My Role
Full-Stack Developer & Technical Lead — MyFaithy Platform
| Area | Responsibilities |
|---|---|
| Product & Design | Turned the brand system (logo, sky-blue UI, calm typography) into production screens: splash, auth, Faith Coach, scan, prayer detail, growth, and premium |
| Mobile App | Built the iOS and Android app: social and email sign-in, guest mode, coach chat, voice capture, Faith Scan camera/gallery, prayer tracking, growth reports, and in-app purchases |
| Cloud Platform | Designed the backend on AWS and Firebase: accounts, AI coaching and scan pipelines, subscriptions, notifications, and content |
| Operations Console | Built the internal dashboard for users, content, and subscription operations — hosted on AWS Amplify |
| Hosting & Release | Same delivery model as RepairsMe: GitHub-tracked codebase, cloud hosting, store listings, and production updates |

Challenges
1. Trustworthy spiritual AI
Challenge: Generic chat models are a poor fit for prayer and Scripture — users need answers that feel compassionate and biblically grounded.
Solution: Faith Coach is framed as guidance grounded in Scripture, with focused categories and prayer/scan flows that stay inside a Christian companion — not an open-ended chatbot.
2. Voice and camera in one calm product
Challenge: Voice recording, camera scan, and long-form prayer text are noisy features. The UI still had to feel peaceful.
Solution: Keep the visual system light (sky blue, generous spacing, rounded cards) and isolate capture in clear modals (Speak Your Prayer, Take a Photo) so the rest of the app stays quiet.
3. Same infrastructure as a larger platform
Challenge: MyFaithy needed production auth, AI, billing, admin, and store release without inventing a new ops model.
Solution: Reused the RepairsMe delivery pattern — AWS, Firebase, GitHub, mobile + admin + cloud — so hosting, auth, and releases stay familiar.
4. First-session friction
Challenge: People will not create an account before they understand the product.
Solution: Guest access plus Apple/Google/email on the first screen, with premium as a later, optional deepening of the same journey.
